Valentine's day worst holiday ever

Valentine's day worst holiday ever. Let me rephrase that . . the worst holiday ever is valentines day. There that is better. What do consumers get out of valentines day? Lots of cards? Chocolate and gifts? why?

Why do we need a day to remind us to be with our special some one, or to do some thing nice for them? IF the relationship is solid, then romanticism should be a constant thing. If the relationship is bad, then things like valentines day is a temporary solution to a permanent problem, that needs more of a long term fix.

It can be argued that lots of holidays in the US and around the world are now for corporations to make money. This may be true for some holidays, but not all. This appears to be more so for valentines day. Some people call this happy singles awareness day. I call it arts and crafts with chocolate.

With christmas, thanks giving, and other holidays, participation is voluntary. Let me repeat that, other holidays around the world, participation is VOLUNTARY. Valentines day is MANDATORY. Why do we force elementary kids to make valentines for their class mates? Why are parents subjected to this form of torture with their kids? Why are adults forced to do this for their significant other? This is where the arts and crafts comes in with chocolate.

Christmas is celebrated differently or not at all by different groups, thanks giving is about the same as Christmas. Canadian thanks giving is celebrated at a different time of the year than the US. In some countries Christmas is not celebrated at all. Fourth of July is a USA holiday only. Though most countries have some thing comparable.

For those of us who have forgotten that special moment such as valentines day, or had to work on that day, neglecting our significant other. How did they make us feel for neglecting them? How did that affect the relationship? Let me repeat Valentines day is MANDATORY.

It is not needed, and is based loosely on obscure history, and we are forced to participate because mass marketing and corporations tell us to. If a relationship is strong, it is a result of consistent effort by both parties to make it so. A strong relationship is based on Romance and date nights continually. One day a year is not going to make a difference. Valentines day is the worst holiday ever.
